MY FATHER
Creating spirits must be in my family’s DNA, in some ways! My father, who ran a modest business selling flavored rums made with fruits, herbs, and spices from Mauritius, served as the inspiration for my early love of manufacturing spirits. I remember that when he used to carry his handcrafted rums to customers' doorsteps, the weight of all the bottles in his trunk nearly broke his car once! Traveling around the island was definitely an adventure back then, with only a few shops available! Being a youngster, I kept these wonderful memories with me into adolescence, and it felt almost natural for me to follow in my father's footsteps.
A SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Frederic is the master blender of the most famous rums from the island of Mauritius. He is most renowned for his innovative approaches to producing distinctive spirits flavours. Frederic was born on the island of Mauritius and, following his father's passion and footsteps, he developed the lychee liqueur that made him famous at the age of 15.
In 2011, he established FredBest International in order to develop premium spirits originating from Mauritius, and his spirits have since taken the world by storm.
Frederic has been in the wine and spirits industry for 15 years. He had the opportunity to work closely not only with distilleries during the production process, but also with customers from all over the world and learned what their preferences and tastes were. Becoming a Master Blender was a natural outcome for him, as it bridged the gap between supply and demand. “If you want to stand out, you have to do things differently.”
As a Master Blender, Frederic's role is to maintain consistency and develop a unique taste. Every bottle of spirits produced is blended under his close supervision, starting with the careful selection of unaged spirits from local Mauritian distilleries before ageing them in South African port casks.
Today, Frederic is known for having his own "handwriting" in the way he produces spirits. He is also the founder of “Litchquor”, a company that manufactures and markets the “Gold of Mauritius”, a multi-award-winning Rum originating from Mauritius.
